Abstract:

Project management has become crucial in the management of organizations, be it profit or non-profit oriented. Today, many organizations largely depend on projects to achieve their strategic objectives. However, the success of these projects is to a large extent depends on the knowledge, skills, tools and techniques apply by the project manager. Facing resources constraints, organizations find ways of utilizing the limited available resources to achieve the most result by coordinating and managing those resources with possible maximum efficiency. Non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) though not profit making organization as such, play a major role in national development in both developed and developing countries and more often than not, depend on projects in carrying out their activities. This thesis is set to examine how the general application of project management tools and techniques can help NGOs’ (though non-profit making organizations but also face resources both human and capital constraints) carry out these projects effectively and efficiently.
