Bulgarians in the Czech Republic: a case study of the city of Brno

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce je věnována bulharské menšině v České Republice. Jedná se o případovou studii zaměřenou na město Brno. Autorka v ní vymezuje jednotlivé skupiny zde žijících Bulharů a charakterizuje je z hlediska důvodů migrace, etnické identity, sdružování se a integrace do české společnosti. Tato studie se také zabývá bulharskými organizacemi v Brně a jejich aktivitami. Práce je založena na terénním výzkumu.

Abstract:

The present thesis is devoted to the Bulgarian minority in the Czech Republic. It is a case study focused on the city of Brno. The authoress defines the particular groups of Bulgarians living here and characterizes them in terms of reason for migration, ethnic identity, association and integration into the Czech society. This study also deals with Bulgarian organisations in Brno and their activities. The work is based on field research.
