A boy in contemporary prose about adolescence for young people

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je soustředěna na chlapeckého hrdinu a jeho ztvárnění v současné próze určené mládeži. Cílem této práce je obeznámit se s některými žánry, v nichž je odlišně pojímána chlapecká postava, představit si základní znaky chlapecké prózy a rovněž se seznámit s možnou tematikou, jež se v próze s chlapeckým hrdinou může vyskytovat. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. Teoretická část se zabývá obecnou charakteristikou pubescentů, ale také jejich vztahem k četbě a preferencí jejich literárních žánrů. Dále je podrobněji představena příběhová próza s dětským hrdinou a román, v nichž se chlapecké postavy vyskytují. Následně jsou uvedeny znaky chlapecké prózy a některé žánry, ve kterých obvykle figurují chlapečtí protagonisté. Na závěr teoretické části je představena tzv. young adult literatura, její charakteristické znaky a dále témata, která jsou předmětem analytické části. V praktické části jsou analyzovány tři tituly, a to Labyrint nedokončených setkání, 2020, Sydney (My dva z B.), 2020 a Dej mi své jméno, 2007, ve kterých se vyskytují chlapečtí hrdinové.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with a boy protagonist and his depiction in contemporary prose for young adults. The aim of this thesis is to get acquainted with some genres, in which the boy protagonist is perceived differently, to introduce basic features of boy prose, and to become acquainted with possible themes, that can occur in prose with the boy protagonist. The thesis is divided into the theoretical part and the practical part. The theoretical part deals with a general characterization of pubescents, their relationship with reading, and their preference for literary genres. The story prose with a child protagonist, as well as a novel with the boy protagonist included, are presented in more detail. Furthermore, there are illustrated the features of the boy prose and some genres, in which boy protagonists usually figure. Young adult literature and its characteristic features are presented at the end of the theoretical part, with the addition of themes occurring in the practical part. The practical part contains analyses of three titles, i.e., Labyrinth of unfinished encounters, 2020, Sydney (Us two, from B.), 2020 and Call me by your name, 2007, all of which contain boy protagonists.
