The effect of head inclination on ocular astigmatic axis during the measurement of objective refraction

Abstract:

This master´s thesis is focused on observing the amount of head tilt and its influence on values of ocular astigmatic axis measured by objective refraction, which are afterwards compared with the values of subjective refraction. Theoretical part is aimed at characterization of astigmatism, lateral head tilt and its relationship with compensatory ocular counter torsion, and methods for measuring objective refraction. The aim of the practical part of this study is to detect the tendency of patients to tilt the head during the measurement of objective refraction and if the potential lateral head tilt has an effect on the change of ocular astigmatic axis. These results are then compared with the ocular astigmatic axis measured by subjective refraction.

Abstract:

Táto diplomová práca sa zaoberá skúmaním náklonu hlavy a jeho vplyvom na hodnoty osi astigmatizmu na namerané hodnoty objektívnej refrakcie, ktoré sú následne porovnávané s nameranými hodnotami subjektívnej refrakcie. Teoretická časť sa venuje okrem popisu astigmatizmu aj popisu náklonu hlavy a jeho vzťahu ku kompenzačným očným pohybom a metódam na meranie objektívnej refrakcie. V praktickej časti je zisťované, či majú pacienti tendenciu pri meraní objektívnej refrakcie pomocou autorefraktometra nakláňať hlavu a či má tento prípadný náklon vplyv na výsledné hodnoty osi astigmatizmu. Tieto zistenia sú tiež porovnané s výsledkami osi astigmatizmu zistenej pri meraní subjektívnej refrakcie.
