Abstract:

"Demolice ortodoxních kostelů v Polsku, 1938" vypráví o událostech z meziválečné historie Polska, kdy polská vláda zadala demolici a sama zbourala více než 120 pravoslavných kostelů na území Lublinského vojvodství, v dnešním východním Polsku. Multikulturní polský stát se měl stát etnicky homogenním, a území s pravoslavnou tradicí, svázaná s ukrajinskou identitou, více polská. Projekt spojuje fotografie stop po zbořených kostelech se současnou krajinou míst, na nichž se nacházely, využívá archivní materiály a pokouší se reprodukovat historii na základě dochovaných zpráv svědků.

Abstract:

"Demolition of orthodox churches in 1938 in Poland" is about events that took place in Poland before the World War II when the Polish governemnt commissioned and demolished over 120 Orthodox churches in the Lublin province, in Eastern Poland. The multicultural Polish state was to become ethnically homogeneous, and the areas with an Orthodox tradition related to Ukrainian identity were to be more Polish. The project combines photographs of traces of destroyed Orthodox churches with contemporary landscapes of places where those churches were located, uses archivals and tries to reproduce stories on the basis of the preserved accounts of witnesses.
