An analysis of significant military operations of the State of Israel during the last two decades.

Anotácia:

Tato práce se zabývá třemi nejrozsáhlejšími vojenskými operacemi Státu Izrael, které byly realizovány od konce studené války. Jedná se o operaci Hrozny hněvu v Libanonu z roku 1996, invazi do Libanonu v roce 2006 a operaci Lité olovo v Pásmu Gazy z přelomu let 2008 a 2009. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda byly tyto operace úspěšné a tedy zda Izrael dosáhl svých vojenských a politických cílů, o které těmito operacemi usiloval. V práci jsou tyto operace v chronologickém pořadí analyzovány v jednotlivých kapitolách a v závěru dochází k celkovému zhodnocení úspěšnosti Státu Izrael. Práce rovnež obsahuje stručný nástin vývoje arabsko-izraelského konfliktu a také izraelské bezpečnostní situace a politického vývoje po studené válce.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the three most extensive military operations led by the State of Israel after the Cold war. These are the following: operation Grapes of Wrath in Lebanon in 1996, Israel's invasion of Lebanon in 2006 and operation Cast Lead at the turn of 2006 and 2007 in the Gaza Strip. The aim of this thesis is to examine these operations in terms of success of the Israeli military and political objectives. The examined operations will be analyzed in individual chapters in chronological order. The conclusion includes evaluation of the overall successs of the State of Israel. The thesis also contains a brief description of the evolution of the Arab-Israeli conflict and the security situation and political development of the State of Israel after the end of Cold war
