The satirical depiction of the present in David Drábek´s work

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá satirickými dramaty Davida Drábka. Úvodní kapitoly jsou věnovány vývoji českého satirického dramatu od Národního obrození do druhé poloviny 20. století. Dále nabízí přehled nejzajímavějších a nejvýraznějších současných českých dramat v kontextu aktuální společenské situace. Ve třetí kapitole rozvádí životopis Davida Drábka, ve čtvrté kapitole jeho poetiku. Jádro práce tkví v interpretační analýze tří satirických dramat. Kromě rozboru je uvedena také kritická reflexe a komentář k satirickému vyznění uvedených dramat. Z diplomové práce vyplynulo, že David Drábek satiricky zpracovává podněty ze současné společnosti. Nechává se inspirovat každodenní realitou, jež nás obklopuje, a vysmívá se politické situaci i komerční kultuře. Výrazným prvkem v jeho satirách je humor a nadsázka. Častým motivem je pocit odcizení se od tohoto světa, zklamání, nenaplněné sny či mezilidské vztahy.

Abstract:

The Diploma thesis deals with the satirical plays written by David Drábek. The opening chapters focus on the development of the Czech satire with the emphasis put on the period from the National Revival to the second half of the 20th century. Moreover, another aim of the thesis is to give a general overview of the most interesting and most distinctive contemporary Czech plays and to present them within the larger social context. The third chapter deals with David Drábek?s biography while the following chapter concentrates on his poetics. However, the core of the thesis is based on the interpretive analysis of three Drábek?s plays. Besides the analysis itself, part of the thesis deals with a critical reflexion and commentary concerning the satirical interpretations of the analyzed plays. Taking into account the analyzed plays, one may come to a conclusion that in his plays, David Drábek deals with the themes concerning the current situation of society. He finds inspiration in everyday life and he often derides the political situation and commercial culture. It is worth mentioning that a sense of humour and overstatements are the features frequently used in his plays. In addition, the feelings of alienation, disillusion, the unfulfilled dreams and the interpersonal relationships are other common features Drábek often uses in his plays.
