Strategic behavior of companies on a console market

Abstract:

Analýza realizovaných kompetitivních strategií výrobců herních konzolí, jejich dopad na situaci odvětví a jeho celkový vývoj je cílem této práce. První část práce se věnuje literární rešerši, která se zabývá Porterovým vnímáním konkurence a navazujícím pracím jiných autorů. Následuje část, která popisuje metodiku výzkumu a stanovuje výzkumné otázky. Další část práce tvoří analýza hlavních událostí, ke kterým došlo mezi lety 1987 a 2005. V poslední části práce jsou teoretické poznatky konfrontovány s výsledky analýzy.

Abstract:

The analysis of the implemented competitive strategies of game console manufacturers, their impact on the situation of the industry and its overall development is the aim of this thesis. The first part of the thesis is devoted to literature research that examines Porter's perception of competition and the follow-up works of other authors. This is followed by a section that describes the research methodology and sets out the research questions. The next part of the thesis consists of an analysis of the main events that occurred between 1987 and 2005. In the last part of the thesis, the theoretical findings are confronted with the results of the analysis.
