Novice managers from the perpective of their subordinates, who are older by at least a generation

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce se zaměřuje na proces vedení a řízení začínajících manažerů, a to pohledem jejich zaměstnanců, kteří jsou starší o generaci a více. V teoretické části nejdříve rozebírám procesy a možné styly vedení a řízení, které může manažer uplatňovat ve vztahu ke svým zaměstnancům. Dále se věnuji mezigeneračním vztahům, neboť souběžná existence několika generací na pracovišti může představovat problém, ale i potenciál skýtající řadu výhod pro organizaci i samotné zaměstnance. Empirická část obsahuje výzkumné šetření, jehož cílem bylo zjistit způsob vedení a řízení začínajících manažerů, a to pohledem jejich zaměstnanců o generaci a výše starších. Zjišťuji, zda a jakým způsobem vstupuje mladý věk do jejich způsobů vedení a řízení a jak se začínající manažeři projevují v jednotlivých činnostech managementu. Výzkumné šetření přineslo řadu zjištění, která jsou interpretována ve výsledcích a závěrečném shrnutí práce.

Abstract:

This theses primarily focuses on the evaluation of the Management processes of novice managers, from the perspective of their older subordinates. The theoretical part initially explores the processes of management and leadership and their various styles, that can be applied on the manager-employee basis. Furthermore, it also describes the inter-generational relationships as a whole, as the simultaneous existence of multiple generational groups at workplace may represent a certain pros and cons for the organization as well as the employees themselves.The empirical section of the thesis, on the other hand, includes a research, which aims to discover the way of leading and managing of these young managers by interviewing their subordinates, who are older by at least a generation. The main focus of the paper is to explore the relationship between age and style of leadership and how does this factor influence the individual activities of management processes. The results will be summarized and interpreted in the conclusion of the study.
