Development, construction and comparison of modern pianos

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je historický pohled na vývoj klavíru, stručný souhrn stavby moderních nástrojů a porovnání čtyř vybraných výrobců (Bechstein, Petrof, August Förster, Steinway). Během výzkumu jsem si určil dva cíle - aby tato práce byla určena především pro profesionální hráče na klavír, kteří jsou, stejně jako já, fascinováni tímto nástrojem. Zároveň ale aby text působil co nejsrozumitelněji, i přes značné množství technických pojmů zachovat čtivost a co nejlépe vysvětlit pojmy, se kterými se v běžné literatuře klavírista nesetká. Nicméně, stále se jedná o práci spíše pro nadšence, proto doporučuji pro co nejsnazší pochopení číst v blízkosti klavíru a využívat obrázky v textu pro lepší představivost. Čím déle se o toto téma zajímám, tím více pozoruji, že mezi klavíristy často chybí hlubší porozumění technické problematice nástroje i jeho základní stavby. Věřím, že čím více se hráč seznámí s individualitou nástroje a jeho podstatou, tím lépe a sebevědoměji s ním dokáže pracovat.

Abstract:

The aim of this work is a historical view of the development of the piano, a brief summary of the construction of modern instruments and a comparison of four selected manufacturers (Bechstein, Petrof, August Förster, Steinway). During the research, I set two goals - that this work is intended primarily for professional piano players who, like me, are fascinated by this instrument. At the same time, in order for the text to be as understandable as possible, despite the considerable number of technical terms, to maintain readability and to explain as best as possible terms that the pianist will not encounter in ordinary literature. However, this is still a work for enthusiasts, so I recommend reading near the piano for the easiest understanding and using pictures in the text for better imagination. The longer I am interested in this topic, the more I observe that pianists often lack a deeper understanding of the technical issues of the instrument and its basic structure. I believe that the more the player gets to know the individuality of the instrument and its essence, the better and more confidently he can work with it.
