Dream in the Novels of Milan Kundera

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá snem v románech Milana Kundery. V první polovině práce je nastíněna Kunderova tvorba společně s jeho úvahami o románu, v nichž sen představuje jeden z pilířů autorova románového pojetí. Druhá polovina práce se zabývá analýzou snu jako jedné formy diskursu v Kunderových dílech. Analyzovány jsou všechny romány, ve kterých je snu užito, přičemž bližší pozornost je věnována knihám Život je jinde (1973) a Totožnost (L´Identite, 1997), v nichž se snu dostává největšího prostoru. Práce objasňuje funkci snu v narativním plánu románů, formu začlenění snu do románové struktury a proměnu jeho využití v kontextu celého autorova díla.

Abstract:

This bachelor´s thesis deals with the dream motif in novels of Milan Kundera. First part of this thesis summarizes Kundera‘s literary work including his essays focused on novels, in which the dream motif creates one of the pillars of author´s novel formation. Second part of this thesis analyzes the dream motif as one of the discourse forms of Kundera‘s literary works. We are analysing all the novels where the dream motif is used. Major attention is focused on books Život je jinde (1973) and Identity (L‘identite, 1997), which are works with major using of the dream motif. This thesis is clarifying function of a dream motif in narrative plan of Kundera´s novels, form of integration of a dream motif in novel structure and development of this motif in all author‘s literary context.
