Reflection of Renaissance woman on a background of historical drama. The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare

Abstract:

Tématem této bakalářské práce je analýza originálního i překlady zprostředkovaného textu divadelní hry Williama Shakespeara Zkrocení zlé ženy z pohledu gender history. První kapitola je věnována vybraným aspektům týkajících se života ženy, které budou dále rozebírány ve třetí kapitole. Druhá kapitola je nastíněním společenské role alžbětinského divadla a postoje Williama Shakespeara k ženám. První dvě kapitoly nastiňují kontext nutný k správnému analyzování literárního díla. Třetí kapitola se pak věnuje samotnému rozboru dramatického textu Zkrocení zlé ženy s ohledem na gender history. Navazuje na první kapitolu, jejíž obsah prohlubuje a využívá jako kontext pro analyzované drama. Hlavním cílem této práce je zjistit, zda obraz žen vykreslený Shakespearem v tomto dramatu, odpovídal tehdejší společenské realitě či nikoli.

Abstract:

The topic of this bachelor thesis is a gender history analysis of original and translated text of William Shakespeare's play The Taming of the Shrew. The first chapter is about selected aspects in a renaissance woman's life. These aspects will be entered into details in the third chapter. The second chapter shows a role of the Elizabethan theatre in English and European society and an attitude toward women of William Shakespeare. The first two chapters present a context important for valid analysis of a literary work. The third chapter presents the gender history analysis of Shakespeare's play The Taming of the Shrew. It connects to the first chapter and its purport uses like a context for the analysed drama. The main target of this thesis is detects the parallel between Shakespeare's fictional women and real women, who live in age of renaissance Europe.
