Sociological conceptions of communities

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem komunit. Zachycuje význam konceptu „komunita“ a charakteristiky, které pro něj byly a jsou stále typické. Také se zabývá proměnu komunit a srovnání jejich povahy a komunikace mezi jednotlivými členy v minulých a současných společnostech. Hlavními výchozími autory jsou Barry Wellman, Jan Keller, Manuel Castells, Émile Durkheim, Allucquère Rossane Stone či Howard Rheingold. První kapitola pojednává obecně o termínu „komunita“, o prvních autorech, kteří se problematikou zabývali a o komunitní otázce. Druhá a třetí kapitola shrnují pohledy na tradiční a moderní komunity a proměnu klasické společnosti ve společnost sítí. Další kapitola se věnuje virtuálním komunitám (kyber komunitám), které jsou pro současnou, především českou sociologii poměrně novým tématem, protože se objevily až s rozmachem internetu. Poslední kapitola práce zahrnuje příklad reálné komunity existující v mém okolí. Tento příklad pomůže objasnit odpověď na komunitní otázku.

Abstract:

This thesis is dealing with the topic of communities. It describes the concept of community and its meaning in the past and present. It also compares the change of character of communities and communication between its members. The most inspiring authors for this work are Barry Wellman, Jan Keller, Manuel Castells, Allucquère Rossane Stone and Howard Rheingold. The first chapter is about the concept of community and the first authors who were dealing with this topic. It also explain community question. Next two parts are summarizing points of view on traditional and modern community, transformation of society and rise of network society. Next chapter is dealing with the topic of virtual communities which are for recent, especially czech sociology relatively new topic, because they appeared with the rise of the internet. In the last chapter I mention example of the real community existing in my neighbourhood. This example helps me to answear community question.
