Importance of Play and Toys in Early Childhood Education

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá významem hry a hračky v edukaci dítěte předškolního věku. Teoretická část práce charakterizuje základní legislativní a kurikulární dokumenty předškolního vzdělávání. Také se dozvídáme o definici pojmu edukace z více zdrojů. Dále pojímá charakteristiku hračky, její historii a požadavky dle nařízení a směrnic. Objasní také jestli gender ovlivňuje výběr hraček a her, dále se zabývá hrou a její charakteristikou, vlastnostmi a podmínkami. Na hru je zde nahlíženo jako na určitý fenomén, který nás provází celý život. V mé praktické části jsem se zabývala případovou studií a kvalitativním výzkumem jedné nejmenované mateřské školy. Jako metodu sběru dat jsem využila přímé pozorování zúčastněné a individuální strukturovaný rozhovor s devíti respondentkami. Snažím se zachytit co nejvíce autentičnost celé mateřské školy. Cílem mé empirické části bylo zjistit jaká hračka je dětmi nejvíce využívána při volné hře, také jaké je vybavení celé mateřské školy a jaké finance má k dispozici pro pořízení hraček a her. V závěru se dozvídáme, jestli má pohlaví vliv na výběr her a hraček v mateřské škole.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the importance of play and toys in the education of the preschool child. The theoretical part of the thesis characterizes the basic legislative and curricular documents of preschool education. We also learn about the definition of the term education from several sources. It also conceptualizes the characteristics of the toy, its history, requirements according to regulations and directives. It also clarifies if gender influences the choice of play and toy, also discusses play and its characteristics, features and conditions. Play is seen as a phenomenon that accompanies us throughout our lives. In my practical part, I conducted a case study and qualitative research in an unnamed kindergarten. I used direct participant observation and individual structured interviews with nine respondents as my data collection method. I tried to capture as much authenticity as possible throughout the kindergarten. The aim of my empirical part was to find out what toy is most used by the children during free play, also what is the equipment of the whole kindergarten and what finances are available for the purchase of toys and games. Finally, we find out if gender has an effect on the choice of games and toys in the kindergarten.
