Significant Sites of Christian History in Czech Countries: Cistercian Monastery in Plasy and Velehrad

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce bude pojednávat o působení cisterciáckého řádu v klášterech Plasy a Velehradě, od založení prvního kláštera v roce 1144 až po současnost. Práce bude logicky rozdělena do tří kapitol a následného závěru, kde bude hodnoceno naplnění cílů a případné nedostatky nedohledaných informací v této bakalářské práci. V práci bude podána analýza a komparace přínosu cisterciáků v oblasti hospodářské, kulturní, duchovní a vzdělávací. Představím významné osobnosti, které se zasloužily o zrod cisterciáckého řádu, uvedení řádu do Čech a na Moravu a následně o další rozkvět a šíření řádu. Jedná se o církevní hodnostáře a fundátory klášterů. Závěrečná část se bude věnovat současnosti klášterů Plasy a Velehrad a především jejich kulturnímu přínosu.

Abstract:

This thesis will focus on the activities of the Cistercian Order in the monasteries in Plasy and in Velehrad, from the foundation of the former in 1144 to the present. The thesis will be divided logically into three chapters and a conclusion, assessing whether the targets of the thesis have been met and pointing out possible issues arising from the fact that certain information has not been found. The thesis aims to present the analysis and evaluation of the contribution of the Cistercians in the economic, cultural, spiritual and educational field. It will introduce important personalities who initiated the founding of the Cistercian Order, contributed to its introduction into Bohemia and Moravia and to its further prosperity and expansion, mainly church dignitaries and monastery founders. The final section will be devoted to the present of the monasteries in Plasy and Velehrad, first and foremost their cultural contribution.
