Men on Parental leave from the Perspective of Older Generation

Abstract:

Tato práce je zaměřena na fenomén mužů na rodičovské dovolené z perspektivy starší generace. Důvodem tohoto zaměření je, že dle dosavadních výzkumů je právě starší generace ta, která je k tomuto trendu spíše odmítavá. Je tedy důležité pochopit důvody, které je k tomuto negativnímu vnímání vedou. V teoretické části je nastíněna problematika rodičovství z historického vývoje a přiblížení konkrétních změn, které postupem let proběhly. Dále se zde blíže věnuji samotnému trendu mužů na rodičovské dovolené. V práci se objevuje několik zajímavých zjištění, v případě těchto respondentů můžeme sledovat značnou podobnost mezi páry se zkušeností a bez zkušenosti. Manželé se zkušeností vypovídají o své situaci liberálněji než manželé bez zkušenosti. Zajímavé je také, že významnou roli v tomto případě hrálo také pohlaví dítěte, kdy dcera, která se stala hlavním živitelem, byla svým otcem vychvalována, naopak syn pečovatel se s takovou chválou nesetkal.

Abstract:

This work is focused on the phenomenon of men on parental leave from the perspective of the older generation. The reason for this focus is that according to recent researches is just the older generation, which is rather dismissive of this trend. It is therefore important to understand the reasons for this negative perception. In the theoretical part is foreshadowed some of problems parenthood in historical perspective and then is there some change of gender roles. And then is there foreshadowed of trend of men on parental leave. In work appears several interesting findings. For these respondents, we can observe a considerable similarity between pairs with the experience and inexperience. While pairs with experience are more liberal in their attitude, inexperienced pairs rather give preference to traditional organization of family. And then the sex of the children plays big role. The daughter in the role of breadwinner, was praised by her father, while the son in the role of parent in the household never meets this kind of price.
