The Relationship between Bullying and the Mental Health of Students in the Secondary School

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce má za úkol zjistit vztah mezi šikanou a duševním zdravím žáků na střední škole. Cílem teoretické části práce je na základě studia odborné literatury objasnit pojmy jako jsou šikana, šikana jako přímá a nepřímá agrese, účastníci šikany, stádia šikany, prevence a řešení šikany, duševní zdraví, negativní působení šikany na duševní zdraví, období dospělosti, studium na střední škole a školní poradenské pracoviště. Cílem praktické části práce je zjistit odpovědi na výzkumné otázky pomocí uskutečněného výzkumu na dvou středních školách v okrese Karviná. Metodologie byla kvantitativní s hlavní metodou sběru dat pomocí dotazníku. Mezi hlavní zjištění patří to, že šikana působí negativně na duševní zdraví šikanovaných. Šikanovaní žáci prokázali vyšší stupeň týkající se problémů s duševním zdravím než ti žáci, kteří šikanováni nebyli.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis aims to investigate the relationship between bullying and the mental health of secondary school students. The aim of the theoretical part of the thesis is to clarify concepts such as bullying, bullying as direct and indirect aggression, participants of bullying, stages of bullying, prevention and solution of bullying, mental health, negative effects of bullying on mental health, the period of adulthood, studying in high school and school counseling center based on the study of literature. The aim of the practical part of the thesis is to find out the answers to the research questions by conducting research in two secondary schools in the Karviná district. The methodology was quantitative with the main method of data collection using a questionnaire. The main findings include that bullying has a negative effect on the mental health of the bullied. The bullied pupils showed a higher degree regarding mental health problems than those pupils who were not bullied.
