The global trade in cotton and its social and environmental consequences for Central Asian countries.
Abstract:
Diplomová práce se zabývá světovým obchodem s bavlnou a rolí aktérů v globální produkční síti. Ve druhé části práce jsou analyzovány důsledky pěstování a obchodu s bavlnou ve Střední Asii (především v Uzbekistánu), včetně dopadů environmentálních (mj. případ vysychajícího Aralského jezera) a sociálních (zejména nucená práce).
Abstract:
This thesis focuses on the world trade in cotton and the role of subjects participating in the global production network. The second part deals with the consequences of intensive growing and cotton trade in Central Asia (primarily in Uzbekistan), including environmental (e. g. draining of the Aral Sea) and social (mainly the forced labour) issues.
