Windigo and environmentally conditioned psychoses

Abstract:

Závažné duševní stavy, při kterých jedinec není s to regulovat a adekvátně reagovat na projevy svého chování v návaznosti na chybně interpretované smyslové vjemy a myšlenky, které jedinec chápe jako skutečné, chápeme jako psychózy. Předponou „-etno“ dále rozumíme „lid, národ“. V kontextu psychologické antropologie (a této bakalářské práce jako celku) je ovšem nasnadě vzít v potaz i význam „kultura“. Etnopsychózy jsou tedy výše zmíněné závažné dušení stavy, které jsou typické pro nějakou oblast, nejen v kontextu kulturním (a společenském) či sociokulturním, nýbrž také demografickým, i když se tyto hranice mohou prolínat. Tato práce si tak klade za cíl čtenáře uvést do problematiky těchto onemocnění a uvést ucelený náhled na prožívání těchto projevů, které jsou vnímány jako rušivé, závažné, či neobvyklé.

Abstract:

Serious mental conditions, in which the individual is unable to properly (or adequately) respond to manifestations of its behaviour, or perceives misinterpreted sensory perceptions information and thoughts, are known as “ethnopsychoses”. By the prefix “—ethno” we further understand as “people, nation”, in the context of psychological anthropology (and this bachelor’s thesis as a whole) it is necessary to take the meaning of “culture” into consideration. Ethnopsychoses are thus the above-mentioned serious conditions that are typical for a specific area, not only in a cultural (social) or sociocultural context, but also in a demographic one. This thesis aims to introduce the reader of the issue of these diseases and a comprehensive view of those manifestations, which are comprehended as disruptive, severe, or unusual.
