Four-handed Piano Works Written by Czech Composers of Classicism-period from the Point of their Forms and Social Context

Abstract:

Cílem předkládané práce je hudební analýza čtyřručních klavírních skladeb, jejichž tisky se nachází ve fondu Moravské zemské knihovny v Brně. Dále pak jejich zhodnocení a zasazení do společenského kontextu dané doby. Je poukázáno na rozdíly mezi malými sonátami instruktivního charakteru určenými pro domácí muzicírování a virtuózními Grande sonátami, které se uplatňovaly v šlechtických a měšťanských salónech 18. a 19. století.

Abstract:

The aim of the presented work is the analysis of the four-handed piano compositions from the turn of the 18th and 19th century, which are stored in the fund of the Moravian Library in Brno. The analysis mainly focuses on the assessment and contextualization of the presented compositions from the prospective of the former period. The contrast between small sonatas of instructive character, identified by the household music, and virtuosic Grande sonatas, which nature corresponds to the music exercised in the noble and bourgeois parlours of 18th and 19th century, has been highlighted. The phenomenon of parlours and household music have been observed in the context of great social changes in the second half of the 18th century together with interrelated changes of the musical life.
