Specifics of Work with Aggression of Clients with Dementia in the Special Care Homes

Abstract:

Tato práce je tématicky zaměřena na práci s klienty s demencí, realizovanou v konkrétním domově se zvláštním režimem, s konkrétním zaměřením na agresivní chování ze strany klientů s demencí. Hlavním cílem práce je zjistit, jaké postupy využívají pracovníci při práci s klienty s demencí, kteří se chovají agresivně. Teoretická část práce je rozdělena do tří kapitol. V první z nich vymezuji pojmy stáří, demenci a agresi. Následně se zabývám sociálními službami, které mohou takto nemocní klienti využít a vymezuji také pojmy pomáhající pracovník a pracovník v sociálních službách. V poslední kapitole se věnuji postupům, které lze při práci s agresivním klientem využít a krátce se zmiňuji také o komunikaci s člověkem s demencí. V další, metodologické části práce je popsána realizace samotného výzkumu. V rámci kvalitativního výzkumu bylo uskutečněno deset rozhovorů s pracovníky v sociálních službách (kteří mají na starost přímou péči o klienty a setkali se s agresivním chováním z jejich strany) ve vybraném domově se zvláštním režimem. Poslední část mé práce je věnována interpretaci zjištěných výsledků, ke kterým jsem v rámci výzkumu dospěla.

Abstract:

This work is thematically focused on working with clients with dementia, implemented in specific nursing homes with a special regime, with particular focus on aggressive behavior of clients with dementia. The main goal of this work is to find out what procedures are used by staff working with clients with dementia who behave aggressively. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters. The first one defines the concepts of old age, dementia and aggression. The following chapter deals with social services that may be used by the above mentioned clients and it also defines the concepts of a helping worker and a social worker. The last chapter is devoted to the procedures that can be used while working with an aggressive client and it also briefly discusses the topic of the communication with a person with dementia. The following methodological part describes the implementation of the research itself. The qualitative research included ten interviews with social service workers (who are responsible for the direct care of clients and who experienced their aggressive behavior) in a specific nursing home with a special regime. The last part of this work is dedicated to the interpretation of the results obtained in the survey.
