Mathematical model of weather-cycling relationship

Abstract:

Dissertation thesis is focussed on modelling of relationship of bicycle use, time and weather parameters. The literature review is performed in the first section of the theses, comprising the outputs of scientific papers and literature from the Czech Republic and abroad (Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands, Austria, United States of America, Sweden). The mathematical model of weather-cycling relationship was developed in two versions: using the neural networks theory and generalised linear/nonlinear modelling. Both methods are compared and their suitability is critically discussed. In the thesis, the method for estimation of trip characteristics based on hourly variation of bicycle counts is outlined. Method to determine the accuracy of bicycle counters and method for extrapolation of missing values are introduced.

Abstract:

Disertační práce se zabývá modelováním závislosti mezi časovými faktory, faktory počasí a cyklistickou dopravou. Jsou v ní analyzovány odborné publikace a zdroje, vztahující se k řešené problematice, z České republiky a ze zahraničí (Belgie, Canada, Nizozemsko, Rakousko, Spojené státy Americké, Švédsko). V práci byl vytvořen matematický model závislosti cyklistické dopravy na počasí ve dvou variantách: s využitím neuronových sítí a s využitím metody zobecněného lineárního/nelineárního modelování. Obě varianty jsou porovnány a je posouzena vhodnost jejich použití. V práci je dále popsána metoda pro odhad charakteru provozu na základě variací hodinových intenzit cyklistické dopravy, metoda pro určení spolehlivosti kalibrovaných sčítacích zařízení a metoda pro extrapolaci chybějících dat.
