ESG Performance Assessment and Reporting: Reporting Process and Sustainability Report Structure

Abstract:

Práce se zaměřuje na současnou praxi vykazování ESG výkonnosti v organizacích. Teoretická část práce se zaměřuje na pochopení významu ESG reportingu pro podniky a na hlavní motivátory pro jeho implementaci. Zároveň poskytuje přehled standardů reportingu udržitelnosti a popis současné situace ohledně vývoje evropské reportingové legislativy. Praktická část práce pak zjišťuje motivaci pro tvorbu ESG reportů českých firem, zkoumá jejich proces reportingu, prvky dobré praxe, výzvy a bariéry. Zároveň zachycuje vhodnou strukturu reportu udržitelnosti. Výsledky nabízí doporučení, jak proces efektivně implementovat. Zjišťují, že nezbytnými prvky procesu jsou dialog se stakeholdery a analýza významnosti ESG témat. Oboje má vliv na výslednou formu a obsah reportů. Výsledný report má plnit účel nástroje pro transparentní komunikaci a nástroje pro efektivní rozhodování při řízení udržitelnosti ve společnosti.

Abstract:

The study focuses on the current practice of ESG performance reporting in organizations. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on understanding the significance of ESG reporting for businesses and the primary motivators for its implementation. It also provides an overview of sustainability reporting standards and a description of the current state of European reporting legislation. The practical part of the study investigates the motivations for creating ESG reports of Czech companies, examines their reporting process, elements of good practice, challenges and barriers. It also proposes an appropriate structure for a sustainability report. Research results offer recommendations for effective implementation of the process. They find that stakeholder dialogue and ESG materiality analysis are essential elements of the process which influence the final form and content of the reports. The final report serves as a tool for transparent communication and effective decision-making in sustainability management.
