The architecture of Greece in the 2nd century during the reign of Emperor Hadrian and Herodes Atticus

Anotácia:

Práce se zabývá architekturou v Řecku ve 2. století, které byly dostavené nebo nově postavené císařem Hadrianem a boháčem Herodem Attikem. Jsou to typické řecké stavby jako Diův chrám, Herodův odeion a stadium v Athénách. Dále jsou v něm uvedené příklady řimské architektury, Hadrianova brána a knihovna v Athénách, fontána Peirene v Korintě a nymphaeum v Olympii, které stavby svědčí o rozkvětu Řecka v tomhle století.

Abstract:

This work describes some buildings in Greece during the 2nd century built by the roman Emperor Hadrian and the Greek man, Herodes Atticus. Some of these are typically greek works such as the Temple of Zeus called Olymieion, Odeon and Stadium of Herodes Atticus at Athens and others which are rather roman buildings with the inspiration from the East, such as the Arch and Library of Hadrian at Athens, the fountain Peirene at Corinth and the nymphaeum at Olympia.
