Analysis of Gambling Causes in Vysoke Myto Region

Abstract:

Název diplomové práce napovídá, že její obsah se týká gamblerství a možnými příčinami jeho vzniku. Teoretická část práce se zabývá hazardem a patologickým hráčstvím v obecné rovině a její snahou je analyzovat současný stav vědeckého poznání této oblasti. Cílem práce je pak upozornit na závažné nebezpečí nekontrolovatelného šíření hazardu současnou českou společností a s ním související vysokou incidenci patologického hráčství doprovázenou množstvím dalších sociálních problémů. Teoretická část práce je tvořena sedmi hlavními kapitolami, které se snaží komplexně popsat a analyzovat celou oblast hazardu a patologického hraní. Definuje a vymezuje základní tematické pojmy, analyzuje možnosti hazardního průmyslu a porovnává současné trendy v České republice a zahraničí. Zabývá se genezí patologického hráčství, příčinami a faktory jeho vzniku. Popisuje diagnostické metody a nástroje, možnosti léčby, prevence a současný stav právní úpravy hazardu v České republice. V empirické části jsou analyzována nashromážděná data získaná průzkumným šetření mezi občany Vysokomýtska. Celé průzkumné šetření je tvořeno třemi částmi: terénním průzkumem zkoumajícím stav a koncentraci hazardu na Vysokomýtsku, kvantitativním šetřením dotazníkovou metodou, zjišťující výskyt a ohrožení populace patologickým hráčstvím, rizikové faktory a chování ohrožené populace, veřejné mínění a občanskou informovanost o nebezpečí vzniku herní závislosti. Závěrečnou část výzkumného šetření tvoří kasuistika patologického hráče z Vysokomýtska. Primární ideou určující směr celé práce je předpoklad, že vysoká dostupnost hazardu, jeho nepřiměřená koncentrace a nedostatečná regulace na určitém území je jednou z hlavních příčin vzniku patologického hráčství.

Abstract:

The name of the thesis suggests that the content deals with gambling and possible causes of its origin. The theoretical part of this work deals with gambling and pathological gaming in general and its aim is to analyze the current state of scientific knowledge in this field. The objective of this work is to highlight the serious risk of uncontrolled spread of gambling in contemporary Czech society and the related high incidence of pathological gaming, accompanied by a number of further social prob-lems. The theoretical part is composed of seven main chapters, which try to comprehensively describe and analyze the entire area of gambling and pathological gaming. This part defines and specifies the basic thematic concepts, analyzes the possibilities of the gaming industry and compares current trends in the Czech Republic and abroad. It deals with the genesis of pathological gaming, its causes and factors of its origin. It describes diagnostic methods and tools, treatment possibilities, prevention and current state of law regulation of gambling in the Czech Republic. The empirical part of this thesis analyzes collected data obtained via an investigative survey among the citizens of the region of Vysoké Mýto. The whole survey consists of three parts. A survey examining the state and concentration of gambling in the region of Vysoké Mýto, a quantitative survey using the questionnaire method for detecting the presence and threat of pathological gaming to the population, risk factors and behavior of population at risk, public opinion and civic awareness of the dangers of game addiction. The final part of the research surveys deals with the case report of a pathological player in the region of Vysoké Mýto. The primary idea that determines the tenor of the whole work is the assumption that the high availability of gambling, its excessive concentration and lack of regulation in a particular area, is one of the main causes of pathological gaming.
