Quality of life assessment of family caregivers of child with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type I.

Abstract:

Cíl: Zmapovat a popsat kvalitu života maminek, které v domácím prostředí pečují o těžce nemocné dítě. Metodika: Zkoumání bylo realizováno formou kvalitativního výzkumu, který pracuje s malým souborem respondentů. Sběr dat byl prováděn technikou standardizovaného rozhovoru a analýzou obsahu dokumentu. Celkový soubor tvořily čtyři respondentky, které pečují o své nemocné dítě v domácím prostředí. Výsledky: Na základě spontánních výpovědí respondentek byly stanoveny tři kategorie a podkategorie: 1. informovanost (podkategorie: sdělení diagnózy, informace o projektu DUPV, zaškolení v péči o dítě), 2. pomoc a podpora (podkategorie: zjištění onemocnění dítěte, podpora a rodinná situace), 3. prožívání a pocity (podkategorie: období hospitalizace, období po propuštění). Výzkum ukázal, že kvalita života rodinných pečovatelů je ovlivněna mnoha faktory, jako jsou stres, strach, komplikovaná adaptace na nové situace a informace. Všechny respondentky se naučily žít s faktem, že mají doma těžce nemocné dítě, které je závislé na jejich péči. Závěr: Z výpovědí respondentek lze konstatovat, že se naučily žít a pečovat o hendikepované dítě. Díky novým medicínským postupům mají tyto rodiny možnost prodloužit život svému dítěti v jeho přirozeném prostředí i za cenu změny stylu života. Všechny dotazované maminky nemají pocit, že jejich kvalita života je nižší než u maminek, které mají doma zdravé dítě. Nestěžují si a mají radost z každého dne, který stráví se svým potomkem.

Abstract:

Objective: To map and describe the quality of life of mothers who caring for the seriously ill child at home Methods: Investigation was carried out in the form of qualitative research, which works with a small set of respondents. Data collection was done by the method standardized interview and content analysis document. The total group was composed of four had to take care of their sick child at home. Results: Based on spontaneous statements of the respondents were determined three categories and subcategories: 1 awareness (subcategory: notification of diagnosis, informations about DUPV project, training in the care of the child), 2 help and support (subcategory: detection of the childs disease, support and family situation), 3 emotions and feelings (subcategories: the period of hospitalization, post-discharge period). Research has shown that the quality of life of family caregivers is affected by many factors, such as stress, fear, complicated to adapt to new situations and informations. All of respondents have learned to live with the fact that they have a seriously ill child at home who is dependent on their care. Conclusion: From the testimony of informants can say that they have learned to live and take care of the handicapped child. Thanks to new medical procedures to these families the option to extend the life of their child in his natural environment, even at the cost of lifestyle changes. All interviewed mothers do not feel that their quality of life is lower than the mothers who have at home a healthy child. They do not complain and have the joy of every day they spends with their child.
