Elizabethan Poetics in the context of Renaissance Reconsideration of Classical and Continental Knowledge
Abstract:
Cílem této práce je reflektovat vazby mezi alžbětinskou poetikou, zvláště Benem Jonsonem a jeho dílem Timber, or Discoveries Mase upon Men and Matter (Stavební dříví aneb Objevy o lidech a věcech) s antickými vzory. Analýza vztahu Jonsonovy poetiky k antickým modelům se nabízí v prvé řadě, neboť právě Jonsonovo dílo Timber je zčásti modelováno podle klasických vzorů.
Abstract:
The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to consider the links between Elizabethan poetics- especially Ben Jonson and his work Timber, or Discoveries Mase upon Men and Matter- and ancient concepts. The analysis of the relationship of Jonson's poetics with ancient models is offered, since Jonson work Timber is partly modeled on ancient concepts.
