The abridged version of the Libro d'oltramare by Niccolò da Poggibonsi preserved in the ms. Lonato del Garda, Fondazione "Ugo da Como", 144

Abstract:

The Libro d'oltramare b Niccolò da Poggibonsi is a travel book describing the events, places, curiosities, and many other details that this monk lived in his travels to the Holy Land. His journey began in 1345 and lasted more than four years; the events of the journey are divided into 264 chapters. Alberto Bacchi Della Lega published a critical edition of this book, and there is an abridged version of the book preserved in the manuscript from Lonato del Garda, Fondazione “Ugo da Como”, 144 and also in an almost unobtainable nineteenth century edition by Francesco Zambrini. I provide another edition of the abridged version preserved in the ms. from Lonato del Garda and compare it with that of Zambrini. I also answer the question whether the manuscript from Lonato Garda could have been used by Francesco Zambrini for his edition.

Kniha Libro dʼoltramare od autora Niccolò da Poggibonsi je cestopis, v ktorom tento mních opisuje udalosti, miesta, zaujímavosti a mnoho iných detailov, ktoré zažil na svojich cestách do Jeruzalema. Jeho púť začala v roku 1345 a trvala vyše štyroch rokov. Zážitky z ciest sú zachytené v 264 kapitolách. Kritickú verziu tohto diela vydal di Alberto Bacchi Della Lega a existuje aj jeho stručný výťah, ktorý sa zachoval v rukopise z Lonato del Garda, Fondazione “Ugo da Como”, 144 a veľmi vzácnej edícii z 19. storočia, ktorú vydal Francesco Zambrini. Okrem edície textu výťahu rukopisu z Lonato del Garda porovnávam svoju edíciu s edíciou F. Zambriniho a vyjadrujem postoj voči otázke, či Zambrini mohol pri svojej edícii použiť práve rukopis z Lonato di Garda.
