" Drink beer of Bohušovice! Promote minority businesses." Language borders under the brewery chimney 1900 - 1948

Abstract:

Práce "Pijte bohušovické pivo, podporujte menšinový podnik" s podtitulem Jazyková hranice pod pivovarským komínem sleduje osudy Prvního severočeského akcijního pivovaru v Bohušovicích nad Ohří od jeho vzniku roku 1899 po jeho uzavření roku 1952. Osou práce jsou hospodářské dějiny pivovaru doplněné o kontext nacionalismu. Práce je řazena chronologicky se zaměřením na mezníky české moderní historie jako, první světová válka, hospodářská krize, následky mnichovské dohody a další. V práci jsou obsaženy kapitoly zabývající se vývojem pivovarnictví ve vztahu k vlastenectví. Dále medailonky některých osob spjatých s menšinovým podnikem. Zkoumána je též obec, ve které se pivovar nachází, a která byla díky své poloze, ať už míníme jazykovou hranici nebo sousedství města Terezín, vystavena zásadním historickým dějům.

Abstract:

The thesis "Drink Bohušovice beer, support minority company" with subtitle Language border under the brewery chimney deals with progression of First North Bohemian joint stock brewery in Bohušovice nad Ohří from its establishment in 1899 until its closure in 1952. The basis of the thesis is economic history of the brewery supplemented by historical context of nationalism. This thesis is written in chronoligical order and it aims at the milestones in modern czech history, such as World War One, economic crisis, consequences of the Munich agreement and others. There are chapters dealing with development of the brewing process contained in the thesis too. And it also follows up the fates of some personalities connected with this minority company. The village where the brewery is located was researched too, because thanks to its location, whether we mean the language border or neighborhood with Terezin, it was exposed to essential historical events.
