Predošlé výskumy zamerané na zistenie výhod minimálne kontraintuitívnych konceptov v kultúrnom prenose priniesli zmiešané výsledky, zrejme vďaka nekonzistentnej operacionalizácii kontraintuitívnych konceptov. Teória Pascala Boyera tak nebola uspokojivo verifikovaná.
