Influence of Non-governmental Organizations on the Implementation of CSR in Fast Fashion

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá efektivitou strategií nevládních organizací v prosazování lidských práv v dodavatelských řetězcích transnacionálních korporací. Strategie jsou zkoumány na případových studiích z odvětví fast fashion. Toto odvětví bylo vybráno s ohledem na množství negativních externalit provázející výrobní proces. Práce zkoumá efektivitu strategií a taktik čtyř nevládních organizací – Anti-Slavery International, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre, Clean Clothes Campaign a Ethical Trading Initiative. Taktiky byly rozřazeny do dvou typů strategií: spolupráce a konfrontace. Na základě komparativní analýzy používaných technik byla vyhodnocena nejúčinnější strategie. Z výsledků naší analýzy vyplývá, že efektivnější strategií je konfrontace. Tato strategie je účinná v případech, kdy strategie spolupráce selže. Nelze nicméně doporučit úplné zanevření na strategii spolupráce, neboť tato přináší výsledky zejména pokud je aplikována na společnosti, které přistupují ke svým problémům proaktivně.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the effectiveness of strategies of non-governmental organizations in the promotion of human rights in the supply chains of transnational corporations. Strategies are being studied on case studies from the fast fashion industry. This sector has been selected with respect to the number of negative externalities accompanying the production process. The paper examines the effectiveness of the strategies and tactics of four non-governmental organizations - Anti-Slavery International, Business & Human Rights Resource Center, Clean Clothes Campaign, and Ethical Trading Initiative. Tactics were divided into two types of strategies: collaboration and confrontation. Based on a comparative analysis of the techniques used, the most effective strategy was evaluated. The results of our analysis show that more effective strategy is confrontation. This strategy is effective in cases where the cooperation strategy fails. However, it is not advisable to fully opt for a cooperative strategy, as it brings results especially when it is applied to companies that address their problems proactively.
