Impacts of Carbon Dioxide Emission Standards on the Production Technologies of Companies in the Automotive Industry

Abstract:

Tématem diplomové práce je analýza dopadů norem emisí oxidu uhličitého na výrobní technologie oceláren, které jsou nedílnou součástí automotive. Práce se skládá z několika částí. První část je zaměřena na obecný popis aktuálně platných emisních cílů EU až do roku 2050, jednotlivých rozsahů snižování uhlíkové stopy a podíl oceli na uhlíkové náročnosti automobilu. Ve druhé části je blíže popsána ocel, nejznámější procesy výroby oceli a také podíl oceli na celosvětově emitovaném CO2. Tato část také specifikuje různé možnosti dekarbonizace ocelářského odvětví a důležitost vodíku jako paliva budoucnosti v kontextu často skloňovaného projektu Hybrit. Hlavním autorovým přínosem je provedení nákladové analýzy pro tři scénáře popisující možnosti dekarbonizace oceláren za využití různých technologií, procesů a nástrojů a tím splnění cílů definovaných EUROFER pro rok 2030.

Abstract:

The topic of the diploma thesis is the analysis of the impact of carbon dioxide emission standards on the production technologies of steel mills, which are an integral part of the automotive industry. The work consists of several parts. The first part is focused on a general description of the currently valid EU emission targets until 2050, the individual ranges of carbon footprint reduction and the share of steel in the car's carbon footprint. In the second part, steel is described more in detail, the best-known steel production processes and also the share of steel in the worldwide emitted CO2. This section also specifies the various options for decarbonization of the steel sector and the importance of hydrogen as a fuel of the future in the context of the often inflected Hybrit project. The author's main contribution is the performance of a cost analysis for three scenarios describing the possibilities of decarbonization of steel mills using various technologies, processes and tools and thereby meeting the goals defined by EUROFER for the year 2030.
