Abstract:

Tato práce chce zjistit, zda hnutí hippies skončilo na přelomu 60. a 70. let 20. století, anebo zda v jeho poselství je něco nadčasového, co může oslovit i další generace. Je dnešní zájem o hippies jen projevem módní retrovlny, nebo seriózním pokusem oživit plodnou tradici? Práce se snaží prokázat, že v hnutí hippies je možno nalézt prvky analogické k tradičním filozofickým a náboženským směrům a školám. Projevují se jak v hudbě, tak v politických a etických důrazech. Přesto hnutí jako celek zaniklo a přežívá dodnes jen v několika izolo-vaných komunitách. Jeho odkaz se přetavil do jiných subkultur a mládežnických hnutí, vzniklých počátkem 70. let. Hnutí přesto fascinuje a inspiruje ? a to už třetí generaci, a možná nyní s novou silou a výzvou, přestože společenská situace je jiná a dějiny se neda-jí opakovat.

Abstract:

This thesis is going to find out whether a hippie movement ended in 1960´s - 1970´s or if there is something timeless in its message what can address next generations, too. Is a cur-rent interest about hippies only a manifestation of modern retro wave or a serious try to revive a productive tradition? The thesis is trying to prove that in the hippie movement we can find the elements which are analogous to the traditional philosophical and religious trends and schools. They appear as in music as in political and ethical emphasises. The movement basically perished and still survives today only in several isolated communities. Its legacy moved to other subcultures and youth movements which appeared in the begin-ning of 70´s. Nevertheless the movement keeps fascinating and inspiring the third genera-tion, and maybe now with the new power and challenge, even though there is a different social situation and we cannot repeat the history.
