Mathematics in Linguistics

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na matematické metody a postupy, které se využívají v lingvistice. Cílem je ukázat jazyk jako strukturu, již lze matematicky popsat. Práce předkládá algoritmy a pravidla, podle kterých jsou věty vytvářeny, a představuje způsoby, jakými jsou věty znázorňovány. Zaměřuje se také na vlastnosti textu, které se dají měřit a na základě toho je nám umožněno texty srovnávat. Tyto vlastnosti jsou demonstrovány na konkrétních příkladech. Jsou využívány algebraické, kvantitativní a grafické metody.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis is focused on mathematical methods and procedures that are used in linguistics. The aim is to show the language as a structure that can be described mathematically. This thesis presents algorithms and rules by which sentences are created, and ways of sentences representation. It also focuses on the properties of text that can be measured and on the basis of this we can compare the texts. These properties are demonstrated on examples. In this thesis are used algebraic, graphical and quantitative methods.
