The activities of nurses in perioperative care

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zjistit činnosti perioperačních sester v praxi. Dalším cílem bylo srovnat jednotlivé činnosti perioperačních sester ve třech nemocnicích v Ostravě. Metodika: Průzkumný soubor tvořilo 96 všeobecných sester pracujících na operačních sálech ve třech nemocnicích v Ostravě, ve Fakultní nemocnici Ostrava, Městské nemocnici Ostrava a Vítkovické nemocnici, a.s.. Pro sběr dat byla zvolena metoda nestandardizovaného dotazníku vlastní konstrukce. Dotazníkové šetření probíhalo v období od 1. 7. 2012 do 31. 10. 2012. Výsledky: Samostatné a součinné činnosti a dále činnosti dle nebo bez indikace lékaře jsou vykonávány ve všech třech dotazovaných nemocnicích s ohledem na specifické požadavky jednotlivých nemocnic a operačních oborů. Nejzajímavější vykonávanou činností dotazovaných perioperačních sester je instrumentování při operačním výkonu. Bezpečnostní proces na operačním sále považuje za důležitý 97 % respondentů. K nejméně prováděným činnostem patří publikační a přednášková činnost, dále auditorská činnost a účast na výzkumu. Mezi dotazovanými třemi nemocnicemi byly zjištěny rozdíly v zaznamenávání ošetřovatelských diagnóz do dokumentace operačního sálu. Svou profesi většina sester považuje za velmi náročnou. Závěr: Profese perioperační sestry se všemi jejími činnostmi danými vyhláškou č. 55/2011 Sb., ale také jiné úkoly a činnosti, které souvisí s neustálým vzděláváním perioperačních sester a rozvojem jejich postavení staví instrumentářku do pozice důležitého a nenahraditelného člena operačního týmu.

Abstract:

Target: The aim of this work was to identify the function of licensed nurses in practical situations. Secondary target was a comparison of individual activities of licensed nurses in three hospitals in Ostrava. Methodology: The research sample composed of 96 nurses working on chirurgical theatres across three hospitals in Ostrava, concretely in University Hospital Ostrava, Ostrava´s City Hospital and Hospital Vítkovice plc. Data collection method took place in a non-standardized method of an author´s made questionnaire. This questionnaire occurred in a term from 01/07/2012 until 31/10/2012. Results: Both, individual and cooperative activities but also activities done according to or even without doctor´s indication occur in all three researched hospitals with respect to specific requests of individual hospitals or surgical disciplines. The most interesting activity as it comes out from the questionnaire of licensed nurses is a work as a surgical technologist. 97 per cent of questionnaire´s respondents view the surgical theatre´s safety procedures to be important. Between the less performed duties belong activities such as material publishing, lecturing and also auditing and research participation. Differences in diagnosis documentation and surgical theatre documentation were indicated among the researched three hospitals. Most of the nurses classify their profession as very hard. Conclusion: The profession of a licensed nurse with all its activities as they are stated by a notice no. 55/2011 collection, but also other duties and activities that are related to a continuous education of licensed nurses and their development put the surgical technologist into a position of an important and also irreplaceable member of a team.
