Procrastination of High School Students in Connection with the Rate of Internet Addiction

Abstract:

V bakalářské práci se zabýváme prokrastinací v souvislosti s mírou závislosti na internetu u středoškolských studentů. V teoretické části se věnujeme fenoménu prokrastinace, závislosti na internetu a empirickým výzkumům obou oblastí a jejich vzájemných souvislostí. Zvláštní pozornost jsme věnovali tématu akademické prokrastinace. Výzkumnou část tvoří výzkumné hypotézy a jejich ověření analýzou dat, popis výzkumného souboru a výzkumných metod. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo 263 respondentů. Pro sběr dat jsme využili Layovu škálu prokrastinace a Dotazník závislosti na internetu. Výsledky potvrdily, že závislost na internetu nemá vztah k ročníku studia středoškolských studentů. Rovněž byla prokázána nezávislost prokrastinace a pohlaví studentů. Neprokázala se ani růstová tendence prokrastinace při zvyšujícím se ročníku studia. Zjistili jsme, že těžká prokrastinace vykazuje statisticky významnou pozitivní souvislost s těžkou úrovní závislosti na internetu.

Abstract:

In the bachelor thesis we deal with procrastination in connection with the degree of internet addiction among high school students. In the theoretical part we deal with the phenomenon of procrastination, internet addiction and empirical research in both areas and their interrelationships. We paid special attention to the topic of academic procrastination. The research part consists of research hypotheses and their verification by data analysis, description of the research set and research methods. A total of 263 people participated in the research. We used Lay's procrastination scale and The Internet Addiction Test for data collection. The results confirmed that internet addiction is not related to the year of study of high school students. The independence of procrastination and gender of students was also demonstrated. There was no evidence of a growth tendency of procrastination with increasing year of study. We found that severe level of procrastination shows a statistically significant positive correlation with a severe level of internet addiction.
