Abstract:

Cílem této práce je komparace vztahů a postojů Austrálie, Kanady a Nového Zélandů vůči Commonwealthu a Commonwealth Realms a zároveň porovnání republikánských tendencí ve zmíněných státech. Commonwealth je volné sdružení 53 zemí, které (až na výjimky) spojuje společná minulost v podobě příslušnosti k britskému impériu. Šestnáct států Commonwealthu se od ostatních členských států odlišuje v jedné věci. Britského panovníka uznávají nejen jako hlavu Commonwealthu, ale i jako vlastního nejvyššího státního představitele. Jsou tak součástí takzvaného pouta Koruny neboli Commonwealth Realms. Austrálie, Kanada a Nový Zéland patří v mnoha ohledech k nejvýznamnějším státům na světě a v mnohém se shodují. Ačkoliv byly součástí impéria, disponovaly poměrně rozsáhlou mírou nezávislosti a samosprávy. Britský panovník zůstal v čele těchto států do dnešních dní, přestože jej fakticky zastupuje generální guvernér. Názory občanů a politických představitelů Austrálie, Kanady a Nového Zélandu se na toto uspořádání liší.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to compare the attitude and relation of Australia, Canada and New Zealand to Commonwealth and Commonwealth Realms. The republican tendencies in those states will also be discussed in this thesis. Commonwealth is a free intergovernmental organization consisting of 53 states which mostly used to be parts of former British Empire. Commonwealth Realms is unofficial group consisting of 16 states which share not only the common past, but also Queen Elisabeth II. as their Head of State. In some points, Australia, Canada and New Zealand belong to the most significant states in the world and they share some common features. Although Australia, Canada and New Zealand used to be parts of British Empire, they used to have special status of Dominion and so called independence. British Sovereign is the Head of State in these countries up to the present time, although she is represented there by Governor General. Attitudes of citizens and politicians to this political arrangement differ in above mentioned countries.
