Development of life expectancy in the context of avoidable mortality in the Czech Republic between 2006 and 2016

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá vývojem naděje dožití v kontextu odvratitelné úmrtnosti v České republice v období let 2006–2016. Hlavním cílem je vzájemná komparace a syntéza jmenovaných ukazatelů obyvatel České republiky, a to na celostátní i krajské úrovni. Využitými metodami jsou analýza časových řad, demografická a korelační analýza a metoda přímé standardizace. Zjištěný vývoj zvyšující se naděje dožití a klesající míry odvratitelné úmrtnosti z pohledu všech sledovaných aspektů představuje demografické stárnutí populace. Průměrný meziroční přírůstek naděje dožití v období let 2006–2016 v jednotlivých krajích činil 0,2–0,3 roky u obou pohlaví, kdy nejvyšší naděje dožití dosahuje populace v Praze (79,1 let), a naopak nejnižší v Ústeckém kraji (75,7 let). I přes shodný, tedy klesající, vývoj odvratitelné úmrtnosti byla na příkladu těchto dvou krajů značně vyšší míra odvratitelné úmrtnosti v Ústeckém kraji než v Praze, a to až dvojnásobně. Vzhledem k nastíněnému demografickému stárnutí populace jsou následně identifikovány důsledky tohoto „fenoménu současné doby“ na sociální a zdravotní zabezpečení státu a navržena opatření ke zmírnění jeho dopadů.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the development of life expectancy in the context of avoidable mortality in the Czech Republic between 2006 and 2016. The main objective is the mutual comparison and synthesis of the specified indicators of the population of the Czech Republic, both at national and regional level. The methods used are time series analysis, demographic and correlation analysis and direct standardization method. The discovered development of increasing life expectancy and decreasing rates of avoidable mortality from the perspective of all examined aspects is demographic aging of the population. The average year-on-year increase in life expectancy in between 2006 and 2016 in all regions of the Czech Republic was 0.2–0.3 years for both sexes, with the highest average survival expectations being experienced on people in Prague (79.1 years) and the lowest in the Ústí nad Labem Region (75.7 years). Despite the same, it means declining, development of the avoidable mortality, out of these two regions it was considerably higher in the Ústí Region than in Prague, even twice. Subsequently, due to the demographic aging of the population, the consequences of this "present-day phenomenon" are identified with respect to the state's social and health care systems, proposing the measures to mitigate its impact.
