Strikes in the Bargaining Theory

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce „Stávky z pohledu teorie vyjednávání“ je vysvětlit důvody vzniku stávek z pohledu teorie vyjednávání. Teoretická část práce obsahuje rešerši relevantní teoretické literatury zdůvodňující vznik stávek z pohledu teorie vyjednávání. Empirická část práce je rozdělena do dvou kapitol. První z nich vychází z Ashenfelter-Johnsonova modelu, který je odhadnut na datech za Spojené státy americké. V následující kapitole je představen vlastní model vycházející z poznatků v teoretické části, který je odhadnut na panelových datech vybraných zemí OECD.

Abstract:

The goal of the submitted thesis: “Strikes and Bargaining Theory” is to explain the reasons behind the strike occurrence through the bargaining theory. The theoretical part presents the main conclusions of the so far published literature on that topic. The empirical part of the thesis is split into two chapters. The first one presents the application of the Ashenfelter-Johnson model on the data from the United States of America. The subsequent chapter introduces my own regression model that is built using the information from the theoretical part of the thesis. Furthermore, the model is applied on panel data from OECD countries.
