Abstract:

Neustále se vytvářejí nové umělé jazyky. Motivace jejich tvůrců se liší a vznikají proto různé typy jazyků s různými účely. Tato bakalářská práce nejprve stručně popisuje širokou škálu uměle vytvořených jazyků a to v chronologickém pořadí. Soustředí se přitom na nejdůležitější z nich. Dále přechází na hlavní oblast svého zájmu, kterou jsou jazyky vytvořené pro potřeby fiktivních světů v literatuře, televizních pořadech a filmech. Tato práce popisuje tři takové jazyky, konkrétně Newspeak (1984), Nadsat (Mechanický pomeranč) a Klingonštinu (Star Trek). Nejprve poskytuje přehled původu těchto jazyků se zaměřením na jejich autory, dále popisuje jejich gramatickou a syntaktickou stavbu a lingvistické vlastnosti. Následně porovnává přirozené jazyky s uměle vytvořenými z hlediska jejich morfologické typologie a popisuje jejich sociolingvistické vlastnosti v rámci svých fikčních světů. Tato bakalářská práce se dále soustředí na pohnutky pro vytvoření každého ze tří diskutovaných jazyků a rozebírá jejich účely a cíle. Zmiňuje také několik dalších jazyků vytvořených pro potřeby fiktivních světů a krátce popisuje jejich účel. Na konec se tato práce soustředí na použití fikčních jazyků v reálném životě. Nastiňuje, zda jsou používány čtenáři a diváky, jak ovlivňují dnešní média a kulturu a jak se vypořádaly s přechodem do jiného média v případě, že byl podle knihy natočen film či pokud byl film převeden do knižní podoby.

Abstract:

New languages are continuously being constructed. The motivations of their creators vary and their projects result in different types of languages with various purposes. This thesis first provides an overview of the full range of artificially constructed languages in chronological order focusing on the most important projects. Then it proceeds to its main area of interest, the fictional languages created for artistic purposes and used in novels, television and cinema. It discusses three languages in particular, namely Newspeak (Nineteen Eighty-Four), Nadsat (A Clockwork Orange) and Klingon (Star Trek). The paper briefly explores the origin of each language with regard to its author, its grammatical and syntactic structures and sociolinguistic features. Consequently, it compares the fictional languages to natural or real life languages in terms of their morphological typologies and discusses its sociolinguistic features within the fictional works they appear in. The thesis then focuses on motivations behind the construction of each language and elaborates on their different aims. It also touches upon other fictional languages and briefly describes motivations behind their use. Finally, we look at various real life usages of the three languages. It discusses the way they are or are not used by readers and viewers, how they influence today’s media and pop culture and also how they dealt with transition to different media such as film adaptations or novelizations of television programmes.
