Evolution and perspectives of payment cards acceptance in Czech republic

Abstract:

Cílem práce je na základě analýzy využívání platebních instrumentů formulovat perspektivy dalšího vývoje v oblasti akceptace platebních karet. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a praktickou. V teoretické části je stručně charakterizována historie platebních karet, typy platebních karet, karetní asociace, bankomaty, platební terminály a současné platební instrumenty. V praktické části práce je provedena analýza využívání platebních karet a zhodnocena aktuální nabídka na trhu platebních instrumentů a platebních metod. Za pomoci dotazníkového šetření určeného běžným uživatelům je vyhodnoceno, jak jsou uživatelé seznámeni s novými trendy a jak využívají nové produkty v oblasti platebních karet. Za pomoci strukturovaného rozhovoru se zástupci společností, kteří provozují internetové obchody, je posouzeno, zda současné platební instrumenty korespondují s potřebami běžných uživatelů. Výsledky z dotazníkového šetření jsou porovnány a vyhodnoceny s výsledky zjištěnými z rozhovorů s obchodníky. Na základě těchto výsledků jsou doporučeny vhodné metody v oblasti akceptace platebních karet

Abstract:

The target of this Bachelor thesis is to formulate perspectives for the further development in the area of acceptance payment cards, which are based on the analysis of the usage of payment instruments. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part briefly introduces the payment cards history, types of payment cards, card associations, ATMs, payment terminals and current payment instruments. In the practical part of the thesis, an analysis of the payments cards usage is performed and the current offer on the market of payment instruments and payment methods is evaluated. With the assistance of a questionnaire survey designed for regular users it is evaluated how the users are acquainted with the new trends and how they use new products of payment cards area. With the assistance of structured interviews held with the companies’ representatives, who run online stores, it is assessed whether current payment instruments correspond to regular users’ needs. The questionnaire survey results are compared and evaluated with the results obtained from the interviews with traders. On the based of obtained results there are evaluated and recommended current methods in the card acceptance area.
