Hamlet's Soliloquies in Shakespeare's Play Hamlet and in Film

Abstract:

The main subject of my thesis is to explain and compare the differences and similarities of both the text form and meaning of Hamlet's soliloquies in the original Shakespeare's play Hamlet, and in two movies I chose to be the best ones to compare the play with. I am also going to give a reader my own opinion on the film-performances of Hamlet's soliloquies. Before getting to the main part of my thesis, I would like to introduce the time and the background of Shakespeare's life, including the Elizabethan era and drama, because to understand the connection of the Hamlet play and the circumstances of that period is very important. I am going to briefly describe the Hamlet play itself, then the main part of my thesis, the analysis of soliloquies in the original play and in movies, follows.

Abstract:

Název mé bakalářské práce je Hamletovy samomluvy v Shakespearově hře Hamlet a ve filmu. Jejím cílem je popsat a analyzovat obsah Hamletových samomluv, porovnat jejich originální formu s formou ve dvou vybraných filmech, a vykreslit jejich provedení v těchto kinematografických dílech. Než však přejdu k rozebírání zmíněné hlavní části, ráda bych stručně uvedla čtenáře do doby, v níž byl Hamlet napsán, a také do Shakespearova života, pro lepší poznání a pochopení autora této hry. První kapitola se tudíž zabývá Alžbětínskou érou a Alžbětínským dramatem, druhá ve zkratce popisuje život a kariéru Williama Shakespeara, ve třetí kapitole najdeme informace o tom, co Shakespeara ovlivnilo ohledně napsání hry Hamlet, a zevrubný popis postav a témat v této hře. Čtvrtá a ústřední část mé práce podrobně analyzuje Hamletovy samomluvy v originální hře a ve filmech, rozebírá jejich rozdíly ve formě a provedení, a zabývá se i filmy samotnými. Poté následuje závěr, bibliografie a přílohy.
