The United Nations and the Israeli-Palestinian Peace Process in the 21st century

Abstract:

The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to find out what is the influence of the United Nations on the Iraeli-Palestinian Peace Process from the begining of the 21.st century. Base for the research is not only inquiring of the tools, which the UN have available for ending peace process, but also according declared objectives and roles and their fulfillment. Attention will be dedicated to the resolutions of the Security Council about the Israeli-Palestinian peace process in the 21.st century. This thesis will focus mainly on the tools of the Security Council,the Department of political affairs (especially of the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process- UNSCO)and the Department of peacekeeping operations (especially mission UNTSO).

Abstract:

Cieľom tejto bakalárskej práce je zistiť, aký vplyv má OSN na izraelsko-palestínsky mierový proces od začiatku 21. storočia. Autorka to bude skúmať na základe nástrojov, ktoré má OSN k dispozícii na ukončenie mierového procesu ako aj podľa deklarovaných cieľov a úloh OSN a toho, či boli naplnené. Pozornosť bude venovaná aj rezolúciám Rady bezpečnosti OSN o izraelsko-palestínskom mierovom procese v 21. stor. Táto práca sa sústredí najmä na nástroje, ktorými disponuje Rada bezpečnosti OSN, Odbor OSN pre politické otázky (najmä Špeciálny koordinátor OSN pre blízkovýchodný mierový proces) a Odbor OSN pre operácie na udržanie mieru (najmä misia UNTSO).
