Harm reduction in prevention of drug addiction in the Czech Republic and other countries

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje analýze a komparaci programů harm reduction v České republice a vybraných zahraničních zemích. Cílem je poskytnout ucelený přehled o stavu a metodách programů zaměřených na harm reduction spojených s drogovou problematikou, s důrazem na historický vývoj a aktuální situaci. V teoretické části jsou definovány základní pojmy jako závislost, drogy a prevence, a dále je zde popsán vývoj společenského vnímání drog a drogové závislosti, včetně počátků mezinárodní regulace a proměn drogové politiky. Praktická část se zaměřuje na harm reduction v České republice a porovnává ji s přístupy v zahraničí. Detailně jsou prozkoumány klíčové programy a služby. Výzkum zahrnuje studium odborné literatury, analýzu mezinárodních publikací a dalších internetových zdrojů. Hlavní metodou je komparativní analýza, která umožňuje hlubší porozumění rozdílům v drogových politikách a dostupnosti harm reduction programů. Výsledky práce poukazují na různorodost a komplexnost přístupů k problematice harm reduction, reflektují sociální, právní a zdravotní aspekty a zdůrazňují význam adaptace politik na specifické podmínky jednotlivých zemí.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the analysis and comparison of harm reduction programs in the Czech Republic and selected foreign countries. The goal is to provide a comprehensive overview of the state and methods of drug-related harm reduction programs, with an emphasis on historical development and the current situation. The theoretical part defines basic concepts such as addiction, drugs, and prevention, and further describes the development of societal perceptions of drugs and drug addiction, including the beginnings of international regulation and changes in drug policy. The practical section concentrates on harm reduction in the Czech Republic and compares it with approaches in foreign countries. Key programs and services are examined in detail. The research includes the study of professional literature, analysis of international publications, and other online sources. The main method is comparative analysis, which allows for a deeper understanding of the differences in drug policies and the availability of harm reduction programs. The results of the work highlight the diversity and complexity of approaches to harm reduction, reflecting social, legal, and health aspects, and emphasize the importance of adapting policies to the specific conditions of individual countries.
