Mobilization and redistribution of elements during low-temperature hydrothermal alteration of titanite

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce obsahuje přehled dosavadních poznatků o krystalochemii titanitu a jeho stabilitě v horninovém prostředí. V rešeršní části je také popsána problematika alterace titanitu při působení fluid různé geneze převážně v granitoidních horninách a je posouzena mobilita REE a dalších prvků. Praktická část práce se zabývá alteracemi titanitu, k nimž dochází v souvislosti s účinky diagenetických fluid při hlubokém pohřbení sedimentů kulmu Drahanské vrchoviny v protivanovském souvrství, kde maximální teploty dosahují 250-300°C. Detritické titanity i autigenní minerály byly zkoumány elektronovou mikrosondou. Bylo pozorováno rozpouštění titanitů od okraje a podél prasklin a tvoření nových fází kalcitu, blíže nedefinovanou TiO2 fází (anatas/rutil), karbonátů vzácných zemin (synchysit) a ojediněle chloritu. K alteraci docházelo uvnitř sedimentární pánve, je tedy autigenního původu. Diagenetická fluida, jež se účastnila rozpouštění titanitu, byla relativně bohatá na CO2, F a Ca. Autigenní fluoro-karbonáty upřednostňují LREE před HREE, které byly patrně během hydrotermální alterace mobilizovány a odneseny dál rozpuštěné v diagenetických fluidech.

Abstract:

The present work contains a review of existing knowledge about the crystal chemistry of titanite and the stability of the rock enviroment. In the reseach part of the work there is also described the problems of titanite alteration when exposed to fluids of various origins mainly in granitic rocks, there is assessed mobility of REE and other elements. The practical part of the work deals with titanite alterations that occur in connection with the effects of diagenetic fluids during deep burial of sediments Drahany Upland in the Protivanov Formation, where the maximum temperature reaches 250-300°C. Detrital titanites and authigenic minerals were studied by electron microprobe. It has been observed dissolution of titanite from the edges and along cracks and formation of new phases calcite, of undefined phase TiO2 (anatase/rutile), rare earth carbonates (synchysite) and occasionally chlorite. The alteration occurred within sedimentary basin, thus authigenic origin. Diagenetic fluids, which are involved in the dissolution of titanite was relatively rich in CO2 , F and Ca. Authigenic fluoro-carbonates prefer LREE to HREE, the HREE were probably mobilized during hydrothermal alteration and transported in the dissolved consistence in diagenetic fluids.
