Společenstva měkkýšů na slatiništích jižní Skandinávie: změny podél gradientu minerální bohatosti

Mollusc assemblages in fens of southern Scandinavia: changes along the gradient of mineral richness

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá ekologií společenstev měkkýšů na slatiništích jižní části Skandinávie. Hlavními cíli bylo popsat změny v počtech druhů a abundancích měkkýšů podél gradientu minerální bohatosti, najít nejvýznamnější faktory odpovídající za utváření společenstev měkkýšů a prozkoumat souvislosti mezi malakocenózami a skladbou vegetace. Rovněž byl studován vztah mezi celkovou početností společenstev měkkýšů a hmotností jejich biomasy. V srpnu roku 2006 bylo vzorkováno 43 lokalit na území Norska a Švédska. Lokality byly zvoleny tak, aby reprezentativně pokryly všechny typy slatinišť podél gradientu minerální bohatosti. V terénu bylo měřeno pH a konduktivita vody (proměnné indikující minerální bohatost), zeměpisné souřadnice a nadmořská výška. Na každé vzorkované ploše byl zapsán vegetační snímek a k jednotlivým lokalitám byly doplněny klimatické proměnné (průměrné teploty, srážkové úhrny). Data byla zpracována pomocí programů Statistica, PC-ORD a CANOCO. Celkem bylo na studovaných plochách nalezeno 45 druhů měkkýšů. Ve složení malakocenóz byly zastoupeny typické severské chladnomilné druhy (např. Vertigo genesii, Columella columella, Vertigo arctica, Vertigo lilljeborgi) i druhy běžně se vyskytující na slatiništích střední Evropy (např. Cochlicopa lubrica, Perpolita hammonis). Počty druhů i abundance měkkýšů rostly s rostoucí minerální bohatostí lokalit, přičemž konduktivita odrážela tyto změny lépe než pH. Korelace druhové bohatosti a abundancí s konduktivitou a pH byly vždy silnější pro suchozemské ulitnaté plže než pro všechny druhy měkkýšů (včetně nahých plžů a vodních druhů). Vztah druhové bohatosti a biomasy suchozemských ulitnatých plžů se jevil spíše jako unimodální než lineární, ovšem pro spolehlivou interpretaci tohoto výsledku by bylo zapotřebí většího počtu vzorků. Hlavním gradientem strukturujícím společenstva měkkýšů byl gradient minerální bohatosti, druhý nejvýznamnější byl gradient klimatický korelovaný s nadmořskou výškou lokalit. Složení společenstev měkkýšů silně korelovalo se složením rostlinných společenstev a skladba vegetace byla také proměnnou vysvětlující největší procento variability v malakologických datech.

Abstract:

This study deals with the ecology of mollusc assemblages in fens of the southern part of Scandinavia. The goals of this study were to investigate the changes of mollusc species richness and abundances along the gradient of mineral richness, to find the main factors controlling the composition of mollusc assemblages and to study relationships between malacocenoses and vegetation composition. The aim was also to determine the relationship between the total abundance of assemblages and their dry-weight biomass. The field work was conducted in August 2006 within the territory of Norway and Sweden. Altogether 43 fen sites were sampled, with purpose to cover the entire mineral richness gradient. Water conductivity and pH (proxy measures of mineral richness), geographic coordinates and altitude were measured in the field. Vegetation relevé was recorded at each site and climatic parameters (mean temperatures, precipitation amounts) were compiled for each site. The data were processed using Statistica, PC-ORD and CANOCO packages. A total of 45 mollusc species were found in the fens studied. Mollusc assemblages consisted of typical northern cold-climate species (e.g. Vertigo genesii, Columella columella, Vertigo arctica and Vertigo lilljeborgi) as well as common Central European species (e.g. Cochlicopa lubrica and Perpolita hammonis). Both numbers of species and individuals increased with increasing mineral richness, and conductivity reflected these changes better than pH. Correlations of species richness and abundances with conductivity and pH were always stronger when only terrestrial snails were counted than when all molluscs (including slugs and freshwater species) were considered. The relationship between species-richness and biomass of terrestrial snails was rather unimodal than linear, but the number of samples was too low to interpret this result reliably. The major gradient in mollusc data was that of mineral richness, the second most considerable was the climatic gradient, correlated with altitude. The main direction of mollusc species turnover was associated with that observed for vegetation and plant species composition was the best predictor of the total variation in mollusc data.
