Abstract:

Předmětem bakalářské práce je katedrála svatého Demetria ve Vladimíru v Rusku. Bělokamenná architektura z konce 12. století s propracovanou reliéfní výzdobou na fasádách je v dnešní době studována a vnímána jakožto osamoceně stojící stavba, její současná podoba je však výsledkem rozsáhlých restaurátorských zásahů v letech 1838–1843. Smyslem práce je objasnit původ a význam katedrály jakožto celku zahrnujícího reliéfní vyobrazení a nástěnné malby v kontextu politického dění ve Vladimíro-Suzdalském knížectví a v kontextu původního uskupení chrámu jakožto součásti palácového komplexu a jeho přístaveb.

Abstract:

The subject of this thesis is the cathedral of Saint Demetrius in Vladimir, Russia. The white stone architecture, built in the end of 12th century, with its facades embellished with carved reliefs is nowadays studied and perceived as a solitary standing edifice, however, its current appearance is a result of extensive restorations in the years 1838–1843. The aim of the thesis is to clarify the origin and meaning of the cathedral as a comprehensive with its carved reliefs and mural paintings in a context of the Vladimir-Suzdal’ principality politics and in a relation with the original extensions and the palace court.
