Multiculturalism in Canada as a topic of teaching at the Czech school

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá ideologií zvanou multikulturalismus, následně kanadským konceptem multikulturalismu a převedením tohoto tématu do výuky na české škole. Práce je tak dělena do tří bloků, přičemž první dva bloky jsou součástí teoretické části bakalářské práce. Ty se týkají zaprvé popisu samotné ideje multikulturalismu, pojmům jemu příbuzným a věnuje se také zastáncům a kritikům této ideologie. V druhém bloku je pak ústředním tématem kanadský typ multikulturalismu, jeho principy a také srovnání přístupu Kanady k této problematice s jinými zeměmi. Praktická část práce se zaobírá převedením tématu multikulturalismu a jeho aplikací v Kanadě do vyučovací hodiny na české škole, konkrétně na gymnáziu.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the ideology called multiculturalism, then with the Canadian concept of multiculturalism and translating this topic into teaching at the Czech school. The thesis is divided into three blocks, the first two blocks are part of the theoretical part of the bachelor thesis. These concern, first of all, the description of the idea of multiculturalism, the concepts of its relatives, and also the proponents and critics of this ideology. In the second block, the Canadian type of multiculturalism, its principles, as well as a comparison of Canada's approach to this issue with other countries, are central issues. The practical part deals with translating the topic of multiculturalism and its applications in Canada into a lesson at the Czech school, specifically at grammar school.
