Problems of difficulty of parturition and health status in a selected breed of Beef Simmental

Abstract:

Literární rešerše této bakalářské práce se zaobírala rozvojem chovu skotu bez tržní produkce mléka v České republice a speciálně se zaměřila na plemeno Masný simentál, zejména na jeho historii, charakteristické znaky a standard plemene. Nadále se tato část věnovala hlavním rozdílům v chovu masného a dojeného skotu, reprodukci a byly popsány nejčastější nemoci celého organismu a choroby paznehtů. Hlavní část práce zaujímalo hodnocení obtížnosti porodů. Praktická část práce se také zaměřila na sledování celkového zdravotního stavu a zdraví paznehtů ve stáji a na pastvě. Cílem práce bylo vyhodnotit četnost porodů a jejich nejčastější komplikace, spolu se sledováním polohy rozeného telete, hmotnosti při narození či potížích po porodu. Porovnávaly se zdravotní těžkosti vzniklé na pastvě nebo v zimovišti, společně se stavem končetin. Z výsledků vyplývá, že nejčastěji se potíže při porodu vyskytovaly v kategorii jalovic (71 %) oproti kategorii krav (27 %). Porodní hmotnosti u obtížnosti porodů hodnocených stupněm 1 byly 50,17 kg a u stupně 2 a 3 činily 49,90 kg, z toho lze usuzovat, že porodní hmotnost neměla vliv na obtížnost porodu. Ve výsledcích byly také porovnávány potíže při porodu u inseminace a přirozené plemenitby, ze kterých vyplývá, že obtížnější porody byly zaznamenány u inseminace, a to až z 25 %, oproti tomu u přirozené plemenitby 7,8 %.

Abstract:

The literature search of this bachelor thesis dealt with the development of suckler cattle breeding in the Czech Republic and specifically focused on the beef simental breed, especially its history, characteristic traits and breed standard. This part further dealt with the main differences in the breeding of beef and dairy cattle, reproduction and described the most common diseases of the whole organism and hoof diseases. The main part of the work was the evaluation of the difficulty of parturition. The practical part of the work also focused on monitoring the general health and hoof health in the barn and on pasture. The aim of the work was to evaluate the frequency of births and their most common complications, along with monitoring the position of the born calf, birth weight or difficulties after birth. The health problems arising on pasture or in the wintering area were compared, together with the condition of the limbs. The results showed that birth difficulties were most frequent in the heifer category (71 %) compared to the cow category (27 %). Birth weights for difficulty of births assessed by grade 1 were 50.17 kg and for grades 2 and 3 were 49.90 kg, suggesting that birth weight did not affect difficulty of birth. The results also compared the difficulty of delivery in insemination and natural breeding, showing that more difficult deliveries were recorded in insemination, up to 25 %, compared to 7.8 % in natural breeding.
