The position of the artist Frantisek Kupka on the auction art market

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje analýze postavení umělce Františka Kupky na aukčním trhu s uměním. Cílem práce je zhodnocení umělcova postavení jak na světovém, tak i na českém aukčním trhu s uměním. Teoretická část se zabývá aukčním trhem, jeho historií, legislativním rámcem a cenotvorbou. Dále v této části najdeme životopis Františka Kupky a vývoj aukčního trhu s aktuálními trendy. Praktická část se skládá z kombinace kvalitativního a kvantitativního výzkumu. Kvalitativní výzkum analyzuje data o aukční prodejnosti děl Františka Kupky v letech 2009-2019. Kvalitativní výzkum je pak založen na osobních rozhovorech se zástupci vybraných aukčních domů. Na základě takto získaných informací je vyvozen závěr o postavení Františka Kupky na aukčním trhu s uměním. Tato práce je prvním komplexním záznamem o postavení Františka Kupky na mezinárodním aukčním trhu s uměním. Nechť je její znění poučení jak pro aukční domy, tak i pro sběratelé umění a zájemce o danou problematiku.

Abstract:

This bachelor´s thesis focuses on the analysis of the position of the artist Frantisek Kupka on the auction art market. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the artist's position on both the global and Czech art auction market. The theoretical section deals with the auction market, its history, legislative framework and pricing. Furthermore, in this section we can find the biography of Frantisek Kupka and the development of the auction market with current trends. The practical part consists of a combination of qualitative and quantitative research. Qualitative research analyzes the data on the auction sales of Frantisek Kupka's works between 2009-2019. Qualitative research is based on personal interviews with representatives of selected auction houses. The Conclusion of the position of artist Frantisek Kupka on the auction art market is based on the obtained information.This thesis is the first complex record of Frantisek Kupka's position in the international art auction market. Its wording can be useful for auction houses, art collectors, but also for people interested in this issue.
